Publish all minor versions in a SharePoint document library

Hi all, someone updated the versioning settings to create major and minor (draft) versions in a SharePoint document library. I'm planning to revert this to 'Create major versions' but before I do, I'd like to publish all minor versions (500+).

There doesn't seem to be a way to publish minor versions in bulk from SharePoint but I'm hoping it might be possible to bulk publish all documents with minor versions in a particular document library with Power Automate?

I'm new to Power Automate so advice/screenshots of how to go about building this flow would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi @JennC,

You could use the Checkin method with the Checkintype field value of 1.

That value of 1 should be a MajorCheckin:

    The SP.CheckinType for the file: MinorCheckIn = 0; MajorCheckIn = 1; OverwriteCheckIn = 2.

    Try something like below

This example is for a single document. In your case you would retrieve the document properties first and loop through that list of documents with an apply to each and checkout/checkin each one of them within the apply to each loop.

@Expiscornovus thanks so much for your advice, I ended up using PowerShell to do this.

    Hi @JennC,

Great to hear you found a solution. PowerShell is also a great tool for that 🙂

What happens is the doc is open for editing by another person? Is there a way to test if the doc is being edited?

    Cheers!
