Can Powerautomate RPA be used for this requirement?

Hi,

I am exploring the RPA options for the following reqs.

Automation of the invoice and Purchase order checking and entering data into D365 F&O and handling variance exceptions. Currently, the invoices and purchase orders get emailed to Accounts payable team.

For this automation,
1. Probably a power app page or portal can be setup where staff can add invoice and respective purchase order. This can get stored in Dataverse (cloud) or in a sharepoint (online) or in an on premise server. This will be based on the client preference as a cost will be involved for cloud storage.
2. The RPA tool then checks whether the invoice and PO are stored in Cloud or On prem matches. If yes, then make entry into D365 F&o system.

Can Power automate achieve the above? Can it talk to on prem and cloud? Can it handle exceptions?

What is the license cost involved? We already got the D365 F&O license in place.

Thanks in advance

Ven

Can Power automate achieve the above?

    Ans: Yes

Can it talk to on prem and cloud?

    Ans: Yes

    Can it handle exceptions?

Ans: Yes. However, exception handling logic should be scripted. No out of the box offering in this case

What is the license cost involved?

License cost would depend on the mode of execution i.e Un-attended or attended mode

To summarize, you will need a premium license subscription of Power Automate for desktop for it.

    Thanks

    Hi @venvee

You will have difficulties in having the Desktop Flows interact with cloud tools like D365. Dataverse not yet possible in Desktop Flows. For Sharepoint new actions have come up in PAD. You can take a look if those are the actions you will need for Sharepoint.

Cloud Flows will make it easier here for interaction with D365, Sharepoint, Dataverse along with Exception handling for all.
