Dataflow - column not available for mapping in last step

Hi all

I am facing an issue with dataflow in Power Platform. I am using using it to populate a table in dataverse.

I created the dataflow and in the last step where columns are mapped, I realised that I need a new lookup column in my dataverse table.

I created the new lookup column, came back to the dataflow and I cannot see this new column available for mapping.

Approaches I have already taken:
1. Clear cache and cookies
2. Publish all customisations so that new column is published
3. Deleted the dataflow and created a new one from scratch

Even after doing all this the new lookup column would not appear at mapping stage. However, when I created a new text column, it became available at the mapping stage immediately. I wonder if it has to do with just a new lookup column.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, this is a known limitation in Power Platform Dataflows: new lookup (relationship) columns in Dataverse tables do not appear in the column mapping interface. This behavior is documented in the official Microsoft documentation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/dataflows/relationships-in-standard-dataflows

    Ensure Alternate Keys Are Set

Alternate keys are essential for establishing relationships in Dataverse.

    • Steps:

      1. Navigate to Dataverse → Tables → [Your Table] → Keys.

      2. Create a new key using a column that has unique values (e.g., an external ID).

      3. Publish the changes.

After setting the alternate key, the lookup column should become available in the Dataflow mapping interface

There seems to be a display bug in the power platform dataflows column mapping feature. I am trying to combine and transform multiple excel files in a dataflow with 30 to 40 columns and a million rows of data. Each time I go to the column mapping screen a random amount of columns are displayed each time. Simply changing the Name field assignment or Alt Index fields will change the columns presented. The scroll bars of the feature often extend past the visible screen so I am guessing the columns are there, just not being rendered by the browser for some reason. I have even seen in some instances large gaps between column mapping fields with those columns missing confirming a rendering issue.

I have tested this across multiple browsers and using in-private. I have checked my query config closely and there are no bad references or skipped steps. The only time I was able to get all columns displayed was using in-private in Edge, but I was unable to reproduce this afterward. As Power Query runs as a browser application I am unable to see any debug information in the inspector.

An update for anyone having the same problem. Resizing the browser window with column mapping visible initiates a redraw and causes the missing fields to appear. Tested and confirmed on Edge and Chrome.
