Set check box on web page to Checked or Unchecked depending on variable not working

On a web page I have a check box that may or may not be checked - this is unknown until the page is accessed.  I am reading a variable value from Excel, depending on that value, I need the check box to either be checked or unchecked.  I am testing with a variable value that is not 'Autorate' for a customer that already has the check box unchecked.  Instead of leaving it unchecked, the following checks it.

Is the website or web application available for public testing? Have you correctly captured your checkbox?

You can open your web application or website in the targeted browser and verify if your checkbox element is being detected properly from the UI element panel using the test button.

The web page is not public.  I have been playing with the UI element selector, I think the way the web page was built the check box value was hidden.  I was able to inspect the UI element and manually select the correct div to get to the check box input value = Checked or Unchecked.  I can store this value as a variable and modify the If statement to accomplish what I need.

Another workaround is to retrieve the checkbox's selected value or state is JavaScript.

You can employ "Run Javascript on web page" action and help of chatgpt you can write javascript code to get the desired value.
