PROD > DEV/TEST DATA MIGRATION

How do you guys feed data into your development and test environments?

I set up dataflows from production to my development environment, but everytime they run, they get added to the solution where the tables they feed data into are. And everytime I have to deploy the solution, I need to manually remove the dataflows from it, otherwise the deployment fails.
I have the same question (0)

The issue occurs because dataflows in Microsoft Dataverse are solution-aware and get added to your solution, causing deployment failures in Microsoft Power
    Platform.

    Best Approach:
    • Keep dataflows outside solutions (use Default Solution)
    • Do not include them in deployments
    Recommended Alternatives:
    • Use data migration tools or scripts for seeding data
    • Recreate dataflows separately in each environment if needed
    • Use sample or masked data instead of full production sync
    Key Idea:
    • Solutions = App (metadata)
    • Dataflows = Data movement (keep separate)
This separation avoids deployment issues and keeps environments clean.

I would like to understand is your data flow is also part of your main solution If Yes, Why it was like that >

In real time scenarios, We will used to ingest the data outside solution not inside the solution, If you want solution based approach I would recommend you keep them in a separate Data Ingestion Solution.

Hi @MB-10040948-0, hope you are doing well.

I usually keep dataflows outside solutions completely and just let them write to the tables. Keeps ALM clean and avoids exactly this issue.

If you still want them there, easiest way is to maintain a separate solution just for dataflows and never include it in deployments.
