I am trying to make an agent that has access to only a big excel report that I have. When I try to upload it, It takes forever to upload and once it does it says it still can't read the data would have to chunk it alphabetically (Probably RAG) so I want to know what the best way to give it and update the knowledge. If I upload the file in sharepoint as an attachment is that better or do I need to upload it as a sharepoint list( it has 85000 rows). Please advice

That is a lot of rows and a large file for Excel. Excel is not ideal for using as a knowledge source, let alone one that large.

You could break it up into smaller files, you could convert and put the data in Dataverse or SharePoint or heck even SQL and it would be way better.

Any time you create something that large
    a) RAG in this case is not good since its excel
    b) Chunking is not good, regardless of the fact that it will attempt to vectorize it
    c) its huge.... that will take a long while and it does it essentially each time as its not really kept in memory unlock other self-chunking or data storage will

Realistically I would not try to do what you are doing, because there is no one stop good answer other than get rid of Excel and store it in something that actually allows proper data usage

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!

By default, RAG does not work well with large Excel datasets. Instead of sending the entire Excel file to the agent, filter the data first.
Pass only the relevant subset of data to the agent for processing to achieve accurate and efficient results.
For a detailed and efficient approach to handling large Excel data, refer to the following step-by-step video:

I understand I think I am not using the knowledge feature properly, I believe it's generally used for documents or procedures so the agent can use it as a summary and reply in chat, even though if I upload it on sharepoint or dataverse. What's the best way so that I can get any question answered from my data
