Bridging Embedded Java Instance to Power Automate Desktop

I have ran into an issue while trying to use desktop automation on a legacy system that uses Java. I tried following all docs for the Java bridging etc and no success. I then realised that the legacy system installs with a Java instance within its directory.

I am wondering how I would be able to bridge this so that Desktop PA can identify text boxes, drop downs etc inside of the legacy system?

Scrambled folder destinations below of the Java instance and PA for reference if anyone knows how.

Java Instance -> my computer\ Program Files (x86)\ LEGACY\ bin\ java

PA -> my computer\ program files (x86)\ Power Automate Desktop

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

    No. Works fine with browser automation etc. When trying to use on the Java app I get a large box around the whole app rather than UI elements. Screenshot below.

    I am hovering over the UserID textbox yet the UI detector can only find the window.

    Hi @mpeggie

    Did you tried actions under UI Automation section?

    See whether that helps !

    browser automation actions are recommended for browser automation only , not for desktop apps 🙂

    Yes I have, I only mentioned browser automation as that works fine. UI automation also works fine just not on the first Java application I have used it on.

    I think this is more of a problem with the Java -> PAD set up.

    Thanks for the suggestion though!

    Hi, Not sure if this will apply the same to you as it has me but when automating things in Java based aps I have to run Power Automate in Admin mode or it wont work right.
