Rich text character can it be unlimited?

I like to check for Rich Text box is it possible have unlimited character?

My users need to input text and it can be up to 3000 characters. Is there any way to input such hugh characters into powerapps?

hi @bbsin ,

Richtext can default handle the unlimited characters it is always depends of the data source where you want to store the text:
SharePoint multiline text can handle : 1,073,741,823 characters.
SQL it is up to you specify
So you can absolutely implement that. By the way, I have tested with 8000 characters and it worked seamlessly.

Do you want to type more than 3000 characters in your canvas app?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the "Rich Text editor" control could achieve your needs. Currently, within PowerApps, there is no hard limits on the amount of characters you could enter inside a "Rich Text editor" control.

I have made a test on my side, and typed 28783 character inside the "Rich Text editor" control. The screenshot as below:

Hi Kris Dai,

great. the data will store in SP list. I need to set 500 words (about 2850 characters)

so I go to Default .. not too sure what formula to type in... can advice.

Also can have a box to show the number as the user type.. counting the characters...if you know how to change can advice too step by step to build.. ?

Hi @bbsin ,

Actually, you do not need to type any formula within the Default property of the Rich Text Editor control. The Default property of the Rich Text Editor control is used to set a default value within this Rich Text Editor control.

On your side, please remove the formula from the Default property of the Rich Text Editor control. Then you could type your text within the Rich Text Editor control as below:

If you want to reference the typed text value within the Rich Text Editor control, please use the following formula:

RichTextEditor1.HtmlText

Note: Above formula would return a HTML text, if you just want to get the Plain Text, please try the following formula (just as above GIF screenshot):

PlainText(RichTextEditor1.HtmlText)

Please take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.

Kris, Awesome, . it works.

Can I ask u few questions for help:

1) Can I delete the datacard as the rich text will update into SP when submit . Will it affect anything or can I hid the datacard ?

2) how to have the hint type light grey just for user to see?? but when they type in the words will be black? is it possible

and how to have auto height in the rich text box?

3) Can I ask you if it is possible to use Gallery to Create a Table like excel to fill in the empty using datacards to build so that data can be submit to SP list? as will are a lot of information to fill in.. is the any good ways to build??
eg:

4) I save my work and when I reopen it I cannot see the items I created , only after i click the play button and exit then the field are able to see. how to solve this? anything I need to input or edit so that when I open the file, I can see and edit ?

5) Can I change the name of the datacardkey on the screen to a different name that display for the user to see.
like dept1 to XX Department
will it affect the file or anything? if it is possible, how to change it?

6) The default Title, can I not have it appear, however, I can the datacard to default as ABC Form so the user don't have to input.
