Hi Guys,

I want to refresh Power BI report dataset via Power APP using Powershell.

Please suggest how to do the same.

Hi @amsrivas,

Just wondering if you can make use of Power Automate instead of Powershell?

I think that has a refresh dataset action which could be triggered by Power Apps.

I appreciate it isn't what you are asking, but just a suggestion.

Just something I came across

You can obviously change the trigger to be Power App and then just use the 'Refresh a dataset (Preview)' action.

HI Liam, That very helpful!!

Now i am able to refresh Dataset via Power App but associated Visual in Power BI Desktop is not refreshing itself!!!

Let me give you detail
1. I have created the following
- Power APP - That loading data to One Drive excel file
- Power BI Service DataSet - source for this dataset is One Drive Excel File
- Flow - That is invoked by Power APP and refreshing the dataset
- Power BI Desktop Report
- Source of the report is - Power BI Service DataSet
- Contains Two visual - Power App and Table , both pointing to the same source

Expected - As soon as data is entered from Power App, it will do the following
- Load data into source one drive excel file - Done
- Refresh the Dataset via call Flow from App - Done
- Power BI table visual -Data in table will be refreshed - Issue is visual are not refreshing automatically, when i hit manual refresh then it refreshed, Please suggest.

Please suggest how to refresh visual as well!!

Hi @amsrivas ,

It should be possible to set the Power BI Desktop to update every so often

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-automatic-page-refresh

Not sure if there is a minimum time you can refresh though (I think it is a second).

Hi @Liam_Chapman

Thanks for sharing detail.

However, provided link holds true and good for Direct Source query, i am using One Drive for source and it doesnt hold good for that.

Please suggest for Non Direct Query sources.
