Dear Experts,

I am aware of the expensive Dataverse storage cost if I'm gonna store images or files in it. Nonetheless, is there a "tricky" or "smart" way to avoid the storage cost while passing the images through Dataverse and then to SharePoint?

For example, the user will upload camera images to Dataverse Image or Attachment Column, the backend automated flow will run to move the images to SharePoint (that said, the flow will delete the images stored in Dataverse). To be particular, let's say the file is 5GB, will I be charged Dataverse Storage cost for the 5GB even though it's only stored in Dataverse for merely 3-5 minutes (when flow moved the file to SharePoint)?

Hi @JAWL,

The docs here explains the storage overage enforcements and scenarios. In short, if you're over capacity it won't prevent you from creating data/files, but certain operations such as create new environment or restore will be restricted which could cause problems for others in your tenant.

So while yes you can technically go over your limit, you shouldn't do it regularly as you don't want to risk non-compliance and get potentially penalized if ever audited.

Hi @ChrisPiasecki I take the liberty to assume you did not answer my question. Let me rephrase with details:
1. May I know what is the billing cycle looks like to charge the storage cost? Is that every day or every month or upon consumption?
2. My example is just attach images (~1GB total) to Dataverse but automated flow will move the images from Dataverse to SharePoint in few minutes. Will I be charged the 1GB over storage limit?

Hi @JAWL,

You won't be billed for these overages, you will constantly get notifications though when you exceed, and it will recommend you to purchase additional capacity add ons (or clear up space).

You are billed monthly for add-on capacity for storage if you do decide to purchase.

As previously mentioned, I would avoid abusing this policy though for reasons explained.

There is one method to link a Dataverse row with several files in SharePoint, in a one-to-many relationship (Dataverse is one-to-one).
