Licence power apps / Power automate

Hello everyone,

I have a Canvas application where users have a Power Apps Premium Per User license. I would like to create a Power Automate flow to notify users daily.

I would like to know whether I only need a single Power Automate license to configure this flow, or if each user needs their own Power Automate license.

Also, are Power Automate licenses included in the Power Apps Premium Per User license?

Thank you

Power Apps licensing covers Power Automate cloud flows that run with the "App Context".  So if the flow is triggered by the app or used to support the app then it is considered to be in the app context.  If you are notifying users daily about information managed by the app that should be considered within the "App Context" and would be covered by the Power Apps licenses. In that case you wouldn't need any Power Automate licenses.

    Thank you for your response.

If I use a flow triggered by each user who has a Power Apps Premium license from within the application, is it the same? We wouldn’t need an additional Power Automate license (since it would already be covered by the Power Apps Premium license), correct?

@gikidoA Power Apps Premium (Per User) license includes seeded Power Automate rights that allow users to run cloud flows in App context.

App context = flows that are triggered by, or exist to support, the Power App.

    This includes

    • Flows triggered from the app (button, OnSelect, Patch → Flow)
    • Flows that read/write the same data as the app
    • Flows that notify users about information managed by the app
    • Flows using premium connectors (Dataverse, SQL, etc.)

No separate Power Automate license is required in these cases.

@gikido That is correct. As long as each user has a Power Apps Premium license and the flow is in the context of the app then the Power App license covers it.
