Publishing agent to teams channel

If I have already published my agent to teams channel (picture 1). Should I also upload my agent to teams app (picture 2 and picture 3)? And if I also upload my agent to teams app, if I edit my agent in copilot studio and published it, will my agent in teams app also automatically update with the new settings or what? Actually, I still don't understand about the use of uploading agent in teams app.

    Hi @CU15090955-0,

Let's first decided the audience -  do you need your agent app throughout the entire organization or specific to a particular team channel?

In our case, I think, you don’t need to upload your agent twice — publishing to a Teams channel already makes it usable there. Uploading it as a Teams app is only necessary if you want broader distribution (org‑wide or pinned in Teams). Editing and re‑publishing in Copilot Studio updates the agent logic everywhere it’s connected, but the Teams app package itself does not auto‑update unless you re‑upload the manifest.

    Publishing to a Teams Channel
When we publish agent to a Teams channel, it becomes available inside that specific team and channel. Users in that team can interact with the agent directly in the chat interface.
Updates: If we edit agent in Copilot Studio and re‑publish, the changes automatically apply to that channel. We don’t need to re‑upload anything.

    Uploading to Teams App
Uploading to the Teams app catalog (via Teams App Studio or Teams admin center) is about packaging the developed agent as a custom Teams app. This allows broader distribution: the agent can be installed across multiple teams, pinned in the Teams app bar, or distributed organization‑wide.
Updates: If we edit  agent in Copilot Studio and publish again, the agent itself updates. However, the Teams app package you uploaded does not automatically refresh unless you re‑publish the app package.
    Its a two laeyr stuff:
The agent logic (updated in Copilot Studio).
The Teams app wrapper (a manifest package you upload).

    Hi @Haque

I try to publish my agent in teams channel but there is an error "Manifest parsing error message unavailable" when I click "See agent in Teams" and "Add". However, when I upload my agent in teams, it works without any error. Why does it happen?

Publishing the agent and connecting it to the Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot channel makes it available in Teams automatically. It takes a few minutes to show up so give it some time after publishing.

Any changes you make in Copilot Studio will reflect in Teams after you republish, also with a short delay. Logo changes take a bit longer.

You also do not need to add it to Teams if you prefer. You can use the agent directly at https://m365.cloud.microsoft/

For the error, try removing the Teams channel, publish, then add it back and publish again. Then re-add the agent in Teams and test.

    Best regards,

    Valantis
