Create dynamic tables in Word using Sharepoint and Power Automate

Hello,

my story continues in search of developing a configurator (Re: Do or don't: Try to make a configurator with P... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com))

I made my first app where I populate a word-template using free connectors, by following Andrew Hess' youtube-videos (with success!)

However, in the next stage of development, I would like to create tables in the same template, based on optional configurations. My preferred scenario, is that new rows are created, based on the users input.

This is the template, where Option A through D could be added into the template based on the users input in Power Apps.

It could end up like this, with only one or two options, all of them, or none at all.

I dont know if it's even possible, or if I could find a compromise.

Any help would be appreciated.

Besr regards, John

    Hi @Johnolnes ,

I assume you are using the QuickParts solution connected to a "merge" list if you are doing this without the Premium Connector. If so, you are not going to get a Table/Array to merge in there. This is of course (relatively) easily done with the Word Premium connector.

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

    Hello @WarrenBelz,

You are correct, I'm using the Quick Parts solution to populate my current template.

The reason why premium connectors are not an option, is that we would have to change/add to our MS subscription if I were to use them.

Are there no viable solution by using HTML coding, JSON or any other way in order to create a table in a word document?

    Hi @Johnolnes ,

If there was, I certainly would have found it by now (I do a lot of Word merges to PDF forms). You might consider how you can trigger a Flow on a Service Account from a change in data in a SharePoint list and only use one Flow licence.

    Thanks for the tip, @WarrenBelz

An idea that just popped up:

Would creating a table in Excel, then having that data imported into the word document be viable?

    Hi @Johnolnes ,

That may be another option, but you still need to trigger the Word Merge in the Flow.

    Thanks for the pointers @WarrenBelz

I'll look into the service account for flow, if that would only require one additional liscence (for me) in order to do a Word Merge.

    @Johnolnes ,

    Yes it would.
