I  want to build a chatbot using Copilot studio, and then publish it to public web site as a clickable image + to whatsapp where users can chat with the chatbot.

not sure if agents created inside copilot support such a scenario or not?
I have the same question (0)

You can build a chatbot in Microsoft Copilot Studio and publish it to both a public website and WhatsApp.

Public website: You can embed the bot using a web chat script or iframe and even trigger it via a clickable image/button launcher (custom UI on your site).

WhatsApp: Supported via the WhatsApp channel (through Azure Communication Services/customer engagement setup), allowing users to chat directly in WhatsApp.

    Hi @ ,

Yes, this is supported with Copilot Studio.

As you can see in the screenshot, you can:

    • Use Demo website / Web app to embed the copilot on a public website (for example behind a button or image).
    • Use the WhatsApp channel to connect a WhatsApp Business number (via Azure/Communication Services) so users can chat with the same copilot directly from WhatsApp.

So the same copilot can be available both on your public site and in WhatsApp; the WhatsApp option just needs the extra business/tenant setup first.

    Hi @johnjohnPter,

Adding some prerequisites for WhatsApp:  Before beginning, ensure you have the following in place:

    1. Copilot Studio Agent: A published and tested agent.
    2. Azure Subscription: A subscription with Azure Communication Services (ACS) enabled.
    3. WhatsApp Business Account (WABA): A verified account on the Meta Business Platform.
    4. Phone Number: A phone number registered with your WABA to connect to ACS.

Reference: Publishing AI Agent to WhatsApp.

I am sure some clues I tried to give. If these clues help to resolve the issue brought you by here, please don't forget to check the box Does this answer your question? At the same time, I am pretty sure you have liked the response!

Yes—agents created in Microsoft Copilot Studio do support both scenarios:
    • Website chatbot (clickable image) → Fully supported with embed + custom UI
    • WhatsApp chatbot → Now supported via native channel using Azure Communication Services
You can build once in Copilot Studio and publish to both channels with the right configuration.

    Key considerations

    Pricing
    • WhatsApp Business API has per-conversation costs (Meta pricing)
    • Plus Azure usage (if applicable)
    Authentication
    • WhatsApp does not support Microsoft login
    • Use:
      • No authentication
      • Or custom validation (e.g., phone number verification)

@11manish never know that Copilot can be accessed by anonymous users without the need to login? so can i define the knowledge source to be a secured sharepoint online site that can only be accessed internally to be the source and to be accessed by copilot chatbot for none authnticated users?
    Thanks

You can refer to the link i shared for authentication, you need Azure Communication Services (ACS) resource,
Regarding the blow you mentioned, it states it will be retired from Jan 26 to Apr 2026, Microsoft official site mentioned its still supported, and they have an MS learn  page on how to use it.

The article you referenced is about the consumer Copilot experience on WhatsApp (the general Copilot chatbot that anyone could message), which Microsoft is retiring because of WhatsApp’s new policy changes. That’s separate from the Copilot Studio WhatsApp channel, where organisations connect their own business WhatsApp number via Azure Communication Services and host their own agents.

I’ve successfully integrated a Copilot Studio agent with WhatsApp (via the WhatsApp channel) around October last year and it worked as expected. The feature is still documented and supported today – you can follow the official guidance here:
Publish an agent to WhatsApp – Microsoft Copilot Studio: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/publication-add-bot-to-whatsapp
