Choice column in a gallery for new form selection

I am trying have a gallery to allow the user to select from a choice column and can't get the formula to load the options on the page.

ThisItem.'Select Kudos'.Value
 
My plan is based on the selection, update a datacardvalue for the corresponding column.

Hi @nerdyplayer

Gallery item selection: Set the gallery item’s OnSelect property to:

Set(varSelectedStatus, ThisItem.Status)

Update DataCard control: Suppose your DataCardValue control for the Status field is named DataCardValueStatus.
Set its Default property to: varSelectedStatus

Thanks, I can use that later to transfer the selection. My issue is I can't figure out how to load the gallery with the choice column selections. Want to allow the user to use the gallery to select one of the choices in the form.

May I know you data source? Is SharePoint or Dataverse or what?

thanks, my data is from sharepoint. Didn't think to make another list for the selection. Can I get around it? don't want to make another list just for a choice selection that i already have the selection for.
