Is it possible to extract data in excel and save it to SQL server by using both desktop flow and cloud flow?

Hi All,

As titled, Is it possible to extract data from web and save it to excel online by using desktop flow and also save it to SQL server by using and cloud flow?

It seems possible to extract data from the web and store it in an Excel at the location of the onedrive. However, it is understood that data stored in Excel must be set to a table in order to import rows of Excel files and insert them into sql db by using cloud flow.

Am I right?

In this case, how can I make this whole process automatically processed? Can't I avoid manual work in the middle of this process?

Any comments would be appreciated!

    Hi @adelevance1

There might be a couple of ways to achive, two that come to my mind immediately:

Use PAD to obtain and enter data:

    1. PA: Create flow that runs PAD in unattended mode
    2. PAD: Obtain data and upload to SQL DB directly (if machine has/can have connectivity to DB directly)
      1. Obtain data by automating UI/WEB as necesary
      2. Use DB/SQL actions included in PAD to upload to DB directly

    or

Use PAD to obtain data, return it via Output variable to PA to add to DB

    1. PA: Create flow that runs PAD in unattended mode
    2. PAD: Obtain data and return
      1. Obtain data by automating UI/WEB as necessary
      2. Return obtained data to PA cloud flow via Output variable
    3. PA: Insert data obtained from PAD to SQL

You can save data to one drive or better use built int actions to store in SharePoint file directly - but if you can - try to avoid using one of the above.
Key thing: "Output Variable" - that's what you can use for transferring data from PAD to PA directly.

Yes (at the locally mapped folder of OneDrive).

Cloud Flows requires data to be in a table. But you can use Desktop Flows here to insert into Sql db.

This is an official documentation link for inserting into Ms Access db

This is how it can be used to connect to Sql Server db.
