Power Apps Starts With Delegation warning on SharePoint Lookup Column

Hi All,

I was using StartsWith function for a lookup column in SharePoint. I am getting a delegation warning for the same. In this MS article it says starts with is delegable for lookup column: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/connections/connection-sharepoint-online#power-apps-delegable-functions-and-operations-for-sharepoint

Below is my function being used:

Filter(
    'Child List',
    StartsWith(
        'Parent Column Name'.Value,
        txtSearch.Text
    )
)

Hello,

If i recall correctly a lookup column isnt delegable, even though StartsWith is.

Try this instead:

Search('Child List', txtSearch.Text, "Parent Column Name")

Hi @JD-26060753-0,

@StretchFredrik is correct in that SharePoint does not support Delegation using StartsWith on Lookup (or Choice) columns, however Search is also not Delegable - Lookup columns Delegation is only supported with equals. I will add that using SharePoint Lookup columns with Power Apps is generally a waste of time and only causes unwanted and unnecessary complication and limitations (I never use them).

I suggest you consider using a Single Line of Text column instead (where StartsWith will work) and if you are relying on the Lookup is populate a drop-down, get that directly from the other list in Power Apps.
