Any way to trigger OnRecordSelect event for child records in the Power Apps Grid Control?

As the Editable Grid is now officially in deprecated status the recommendation is to move to the newer Power Apps Grid Control.
However, there seem to be no way to get the OnRecordSelect event to trigger for child records in the Power Apps Grid Control.
 
The old Editable Grid could be setup to fire for child records using the classic UI, but when doing the same for the Power Apps Grid Control it is only possible to add events to the parent records.
 
Anyone know of a way to do this?

    OnRecordSelect does NOT fire for child/nested records in the Power Apps Grid Control 

    Workarounds:


    • Editable Grid control — swap the nested grid to use Editable Grid instead; OnRecordSelect works for nested rows there

    • PCF Customizer Control — intercept row click via custom cell renderer inside the nested grid

    The Power Apps Grid Control does not support OnRecordSelect for child records, and there is currently no direct replacement for that capability.
     
    Workarounds :
    Use Command Bar
    • Add a custom button
    • Trigger logic based on selected row
    Works reliably with Power Apps

    PCF Control 
    • Build a custom grid using:
    • Power Apps Component Framework
    Gives full control, but:
    • Higher effort
    • Maintenance overhead
    Ribbon + Selected Record Context
    • Use command bar + selected item
    • Execute JS/Power Fx logic
