We need to prevent the users from using custom code components but any of the previously added custom code components should work as is. We have tried changing environment level feature changes but with this already existing code components in the apps will be removed it seems upon opening the app. So we could not proceed with that option. Could someone suggest anything which will retain the existing code components and prevent users from further addition of new code components?

Have you tried creating a separate environment for users/makers to create their own projects, separate from the environment that contains your solutions with code components? If I remember right, it is an environment-level setting and can't be configured at the app level.
