Dynamic Excel Data Base

Hello,

We have developed an Excel tool designed for specific calculations, and we want to display and edit the results in Power Apps. Additionally, we need to handle a dynamic dataset where each user has their own Excel sheet that can be filled with specific data.

Is it possible to manage a dynamic dataset in Power Apps that changes based on the registered user? For example:

  • User A accesses an Excel file named file_A.
  • User B accesses an Excel file named file_B.

The structure of the Excel files is identical, but the data varies by user. We need the galleries and forms in Power Apps to adapt according to the user's data.

Is Power Apps limited to using only a single datasource, or can it handle multiple datasources dynamically? If Power Apps cannot handle this natively, I am considering using Power Automate to manage the data exchange. However, I am concerned about potential performance issues.

Simple answer is that you cannot dynamically refer to (among other things such as fields and controls) Data Sources in Power Apps. You will have further issues connecting galleries and forms to alternate data if you hard-code the possibilities.
Also Excel is not a good choice for a data source and you will face additional challenges, particularly as the data grows.

@WarrenBelz Thank you for your reply ! So what alternatives could you recommend. I mentioned the usage of Power Automate to work with the action "Parse JSON". So my idea would be that I use dyamical content in PA in order to have multiple datasources and let Power apps communicate with specific flows.

What i want to do is that every customer has his own access to his excel-workbook. First they register and then login. and and fill a form and see their entries in Power Apps.  I must use the excel tool BUT if you have any other ideas for my problems please share !
