Sharepoint - Grant access to a file or folder, not working.

Hi all,

I have a flow that I thought was working but turns out has a flaw.

So the person running the flow has access to the item in sharepoint because being member of a group.  My plan was to - on saving the item in PowerApps have a flow that runs as the user that removes the group and adds the user to have specific rights to the item.

However...... because the user has rights to the item already by being a part of the group it then deciding not to add the individual access to the record.  But if i delete the access first the user would then lose all access to be able to add their own access.

This seems to only be happening via PowerAutomate and if I try to do the same in sharepoint itself there is no issue in adding a user that is already part of the group.

So my way of testing this was that I ran the save (as administrator of the sharepoint site) and it doesnt add the user to the list item.  However if i remove the user from the group that has access and run the same flow - they are then given individual access.

I am sure someone has had this issue before but not sure what to type to find the current status.

Any help gratefully recieved

Dan

    Hi @DanFountain ,

An alternative for that is to have a different connection in your flow, with an account that will keep having access to the List items after the exclusion, and with enough permissions to assign direct access to the user (maybe a service account).

Set this other account as main connection for your "Grant access to file or item" action, and you will be able to execute it.

Let me know if it works for you or if you need any additional help!

Thanks for the idea.  Just as I got the notification of your post I have found a way round it.

If you make the request by the HTTP sharepoint connector it does still add the user.  Rather annoying....

    Many thanks
