Variable from “Create generative answers” node is blank in Power Automate flow

Hi,

I’m using the Create generative answers node in Copilot Studio. It generates a response fine, but when I save it to a variable and pass that variable to a Power Automate flow, the flow receives it as blank.

Any help or example of how to correctly capture and send the generative answer output to Power Automate would be appreciated!

Hello Ajlan,

Can you double check that you're saving the response in a variable?

If you've done so already, ensure that the variable with the response is populated when checking the variables in the test tab.

Hi @Ajlan,

Add a message node to verify the response from the Generative Answer and use the variable named pilotResponse — this helps in debugging the output from the Generative Answer.

To fix the issue, when passing input to the flow, use pilotResponse.Text to ensure the parameter is sent as a string data type.

Thanks for the all the responses.

The problem I'm facing over here is that Create Generative answers node is running asynchronously and the response is getting generate after the flow gets triggered.

hum it seem very strange, this case is used very often (have a look inside system topic "conversationnal boosting", it exactly what it does : it gen an answer, store it in variable and use it later) did you disable the text display ?

could you show the end of the setting of the genAI node where the var is declarated ?

i suggest to compare the settings of the conversationnal boosting sytem topic to found what is different, probably a little checkbox.

did you try by uncheck the "send a message" ? when i want inside a variable i always uncheck the send a message, probably this is the why ?

I did that but the issue persist. It actually creating two responses one is basic instructions and other response is extracting details.

when i have to separate answer, it's often because the conversationnal boosting topic is triggering "hidden", did you try to disable it ? (you will have to disable few other system topic or edit them)
