How to calculate cost - document intelligence

Hi,

I’ve developed an automation using Power Automate and AI Builder to process approximately 2,000 PDF invoices per month. The invoices are uploaded to a OneDrive folder, and a custom-trained AI Builder model extracts key invoice data and writes it to an Excel file. The automation and model are fully implemented and working as expected.

Before rolling this out, I need to estimate the monthly cost of running this solution at scale. Despite searching, I haven’t found a clear way to calculate the cost of processing 2,000 pages per month using AI Builder.

Any help?

AI Builder form processing is licensed based on page volume, not number of documents. It consumes 1 credit per 1,000 pages processed.

For your scenario — 2,000 invoices per month (assuming 1 page each) — you’ll need 2 AI Builder credits per month. At the standard rate of $500 per credit, that’s an estimated $1,000/month.

If your invoices are multi-page, multiply accordingly (e.g., 2 pages per invoice = 4 credits/month). You can track usage and manage capacity in the Power Platform Admin Center under Capacity > AI Builder.

This pricing model applies regardless of whether the automation is built with premium connectors or standard connectors.

If you have a Power Automate developer on your team & want something less expensive you could process 2000 pages/month with an OCR & GPT prompt set-up & it would only take like 2 $15 per month power automate per user licenses.
