Resetting Dropdowns to Blank rather than Default

I have an icon called CancelWork_NOS next to a dropdown called Work_NOS and the icon is used to reset the dropdown. I have the dropdown set to the default of "General" which filters items in a gallery. When the icon is selected, it resets the icon to "General", though I would like to reset it to be blank. Is that possible? If so then I want the Display Mode of the icon to be in disabled mode when the dropdown is at its default or if it is blank.

This is the code for the DisplayMode of the Icon:

If(Work_NOS.Selected.Value = "General", DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)

And this is the code for the OnSelect for the icon:

Reset(Work_NOS)

    Hi @jkrholmes

    Change the DisplayMode of the Icon to:

    If(
     Work_NOS.Selected.Value = "General" ||
     IsBlank(Work_NOS.Selected.Value),
     DisplayMode.Disabled,
     DisplayMode.Edit
    )

    You need to have a Blank() value or "" also add in to the items to the dropdown to be able to reset it to  Blank.

    For example:

    ["", "Red", "Blue", "Green", "Yellow", "Black", "White"]

    Or

    [Blank(), "Red", "Blue", "Green", "Yellow", "Black", "White"]

    Set the Default property to:

    "" // or Blank()

    At every reset it will go to the Default property.

    If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know. Have a great day! 😊

    The Items for the dropdown is:
    Sort(Distinct('DEV - AUS - PPE Item',Text(WorkType)), Value)

    How would I incorporate the code you suggested into this?

    Hi @jkrholmes

    Try creating a collection:

    ClearCollect(
     colWorkTypes,
     {Value: Blank()},
     Sort(Distinct('DEV - AUS - PPE Item',Text(WorkType)), Value)
    )

    Add this to your Dropdown1.Items property:

    colWorkTypes

    In the property dropdown list Default.

    Blank()

    If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know. Have a great day! 😊

    I want to keep 'General' as the Default - or at least the first option that users see when opening that screen, but I want the icon to still be able to be used to completely reset the dropdown box to blank.

    @jkrholmes

    What you want is not possible with Reset().

    I would suggest use a UpdateContext().

    OnSelect for the icon:

    UpdateContext({varResetDropdown:Blank()})

    Default for the Dropdown:

    varResetDropdown

    And then OnStart of the screen:

    UpdateContext({varResetDropdown:"General"})

    Make sure that Blank() and General is present in your dropdown.

    If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know. Have a great day! 😊

    I ended up with this solution working:

    On the screen before the screen with the dropdown:

    OnVisible

    Set(varDefaultWorkType, "General")

    On the dropdown:

    Items:

    Sort(Distinct('PROD - AUS - PPE Item',Text(WorkType)), Value)

    Default:

    varDefaultWorkType

    On the icon:

    OnSelect:

    Set(varDefaultWorkType,"");
    Reset(Work_NOS)

    DisplayMode:

    If(
    IsBlank(Work_NOS.Selected.Value),
    DisplayMode.Disabled,
    DisplayMode.Edit)

    This meant that when the screen is first opened, the dropdown is set on "General" but when the icon is clicked, it resets to blank rather than "General". This also means on any other option, when the icon is clicked, the dropdown resets to blank. I set the variable on the screen before the screen with the dropdown so when people the dropdown will remain on whatever users select even if they open other things on the screen.
