Use Excel connector on files stored in Teams private channel

Currently, when using any of the Excel actions in Power Automate, you cannot see any files or folders that are stored in the SharePoint document library of a Teams private channel.  You CAN see files or folders associated with any of the public channels ONLY.   For those unfamiliar, when you create a channel in a Team and mark it private, Teams automatically creates a stand-alone SharePoint site with its own document library.  You can use Power Automate's SharePoint connector to do various actions on items in that SharePoint site/library.  The Excel actions, however, are blind to it.   From an excel action, you cannot seem to access anything in those private channels' libraries at all.

    Hi @BTbearings

    Thank you for posting.

According to your description, you want to detect changes from excel file stored in Teams private channel. If any misunderstanding, please kindly let me know.

I’m afraid you found the limitation of Teams private channel. The structure of private channel is totally different from normal standard channel. We can’t find it while configuring flow.

In the past, multiple people pointed it out and it becomes a known issue. The only thing that I can suggest you is post your idea in UserVoice website. The more people vote for this feature, the product will pay more attention on this functionality. Maybe the feature will be published in the near feature.

If you research in Power automate forum, you will find all topics regarding ‘Teams private channel’ is unresolved as there is no solution or effective workaround so far. Here are some similar threads for your reference.

Apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

    Thanks

Hahaha....I actually thought this was UserVoice.  Thanks for the link.  After I entered this, I never actually looked at the published version, or I would've noticed no "Vote" button!

For the record, I was actually more interested in being able to change excel tables with Excel actions for files in a Teams private channel, but I would bet that fixing the issue you mentioned (detecting a change for a trigger) would probably also fix my issue, and vice versa!

Anyway, thanks.  I'll add this to the UserVoice page now (but first make sure there isn't one already there)!

    Hi @BTbearings

Thank you so much for understanding and patience.

As you can see, the flow is still upgrading with multiple action deployed/retired from connectors. Just believe Power automate will get better and better with all of your ideas.
