Hi community,
We’ve noticed some flows aggressively consuming API calls or using premium connectors without clear need, pushing us dangerously close to our limits. This creates performance risks and potential license overages. Courious to hear how others are tackling this:
Hi Alma,
This is a classic challenge. The CoE Starter Kit is great for inventory, but it often feels like you’re looking at a rearview mirror rather than a dashboard.
Currently, the most common way to track this is by digging into the "Power Automate Capacity" reports in the Power Platform Admin Center (PPAC) or using the CoE Governance components, but those usually require manual setup and frequent updates to catch "silent" spikes.
For a more proactive approach, many teams are now:
Setting up "Audit Logs" specifically for connector types to flag any new flow using a Premium connector in a non-PROD environment.
Using Service Principals to pull flow run metadata via the Management API to see which GUIDs are hitting the highest execution counts.
I’m actually working on a project called Impliancy exactly because of these gaps. The goal is to move away from the high-maintenance CoE Kit toward automated indexing and dynamic compliance. While we are currently focused on automated ownership and lifecycle management (like auto-deletion of inactive flows), we’re building toward solving this exact "consumption visibility" problem without the overhead of premium licensing for the admin tools themselves.
It’s definitely a space that needs more automation and less manual reporting!
