Hello All,

I have a Power app with Postgres connection which is an EC2 instance on AWS RDS. We have recently upgraded AWS RDS from version 13 to 17 and since then the existing connection is broke and its not working any more any suggestion? pasting the error below.
I guess there is some security patch update in RDS upgrade 17 which requires secure Https connection, This is what causing issue, not sure though

Resolution Notes – PostgreSQL RDS Connection Issue (Production Environment)

    Hello Everyone,

Good news — we were able to resolve the issue after struggling with it for three days in the production environment. Below are the resolution notes.

While attempting to connect to PostgreSQL RDS using the Gateway, we encountered a certificate error. This indicated that there was an issue with the SSL certification configuration.

As an alternative approach, we implemented a new connection path using the Power BI Gateway.

To enable this route, we ensured that the certificate chain was properly installed. The AWS RDS SSL certificate comes as a bundle.pem file containing three certificates. Initially, we attempted to install the bundle directly, but only one certificate was getting installed.

To resolve this, we manually split the bundle.pem file into three separate certificates and recreated each certificate individually. We then installed all three certificates separately in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store. After completing this step, the connection started working successfully.

    Key points to note:

    • Ensure you download the correct AWS RDS SSL certificate bundle for your region.
    • Make sure the full certificate chain is properly installed (all certificates from the bundle).
    • Confirm that you are connecting to the writer (primary) RDS instance, not a read replica, when configuring Power Apps.

Hope this helps and saves time for anyone facing a similar issue. : )
