AI Builder Table Extraction

I have a document processing model that reads a table from a PDF. When tagging, the model picks up the Measures column as one sentence.

However, when I test the model with the same PDF, the Measure column is split into multiple lines instead of that shown when tagging.

I have tried the model with both advanced tagging mode on and off and the result is the same. How do I fix this??

Thanks!

    Hi @BillBreitenbach

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Power Automate Community. 🙂
Have you tried this way to Tag Tables ? Create a document processing custom model - AI Builder | Microsoft Docs

    1. Draw a rectangle around the table in the document you're interested in, and then select the table name that it corresponds to. The content of the panel on the right will change.

    2. Draw rows by left-clicking between row separators.

    3. Draw columns by pressing Ctrl + left-click.

    4. Once the rows and columns have been set, assign the headers to extract by selecting the header column and mapping it to the desired one.

    5. A preview of how the table will be extracted appears on the panel on the right.

    6. If the header of the table has been tagged, select Ignore first row so the header of the table isn't extracted as the table content.

There is a nice animation that illustrates the process.

Please let us know if you see better results

    Thanks !

I have tested with your PDF File, and I was able to Tag Tables with the steps provided above

Create a document processing custom model - AI Builder | Microsoft Docs

Once the rows and columns have been set, assign the headers to extract by selecting the header column and mapping it to the desired one.

    And here's the table result

    Hope it helps!

I removed all the tags and started over tagging with the grid method.

It worked correctly on the first table.

But then I tagged the next tables using the grid method and it is back to splitting the sentences.

    BillBreitenbach_3-1662129535037.png

Here are the others when I do a Quick Test. This one splits only the last row.

    BillBreitenbach_4-1662129977819.png

this one splits the first and third rows in the tagged table into additional rows.

It is inconsistent with the splitting of rows. Out of the 7 tables I tagged in the PDFs, when I test, 3 have issues. What can I do to improve the tagging?

    Thanks

    Hi @BillBreitenbach

The next table gave me also good results with the grid tagging.
