Visibility of Azure subscription linkage for Power Platform billing plans

Hi all,

I am trying to determine which Power Platform environment is using a specific Azure subscription via a pay-as-you-go billing plan, because the final goal is to assess whether an Azure subscription can be safely decommissioned.

From the Azure Subscription Logs I can clearly see several Power Platform related activities. But I cannot trace back which Power Platform environment is linked to this subscription through a pay-as-you-go / billing plan.

Ultimately in the the Power Platform Admin Center, the billing plan is visible but I cannot see which Azure subscription the billing plan is tied to. As a matter of the fact the column with "Azure Subscription Name" is empty ("-").

I have / I have tried:

  • Power Platform Admin rights in the tenant. Microsoft says Power Platform admins can create, edit, and link billing plans across the tenant.
  • In Azure, I have Reader and Monitoring Reader access to the specific subscription that I am trying to decomission / investigate. Other subscriptions I don't have directly access to.
  • In a separate test tenant, where I am Owner of the Azure subscription, the Azure subscription linkage is visible in the Power Platform Admin Center.
  • In the production tenant, the billing plan is visible, but the underlying Azure subscription mapping is not clearly exposed to me.

So my question is:

  1. How can I view the Azure subscription associated with an existing billing plan?
    1. Can I trace back from the Azure Subscription --> Power Platform Environment?
  2.  What is needed to find out which Power Platform Billing Plan is using Which Azure Subscription?
Thanks for your help and informatioN!

Hi, hope you are doing well.

    In Power Platform Admin Center:
    • The Azure Subscription column only populates if you have sufficient Azure RBAC (Owner/Contributor) on that subscription
    • Reader/Monitoring Reader is not enough to expose the linkage
    • Also, there are no native reverse lookup so you can't trace back from Azure Subscription -> Power Platform Environment.
That’s why it works in your test tenant but not in prod.

What you actually need to see the mapping:
    • You need Owner or Contributor on the Azure subscription
    • Without that, the subscription will show as "-" even if it’s linked

Your only options are to get temporary Contributor access or raise a support ticket.

There is no direct way to map an Azure subscription to a Power Platform environment using pay-as-you-go billing without proper permissions.

    Key points
    • In Power Platform Admin Center, the Azure subscription shows as - if you don’t have Owner/Contributor access
    • Having Power Platform Admin + Azure Reader is not sufficient
    How to identify mapping
    • Best option: Get Contributor/Owner access to the Azure subscription → mapping becomes visible
    • Use Azure Activity Logs to trace Power Platform operations (limited insight)
    • Cross-check environments and billing plans manually
    • If needed, raise a Microsoft support ticket
