"Licensing Requirements for Publishing a Copilot Bot to SharePoint"

Issue:

I am working with a client to set up a Copilot bot that will integrate with their SharePoint site. I have configured a knowledge base using their SharePoint content and Microsoft Learn as public resources. However, I’m encountering an issue with the publishing process:

When I choose the option to publish to a custom website, it prompts me to use Power Virtual Agents, requiring me to activate a 60-day free trial, with additional costs afterward. My plan is simply to embed the HTML code generated for the bot within the client’s SharePoint site so it’s accessible there.

Question:
Is it correct that publishing to custom websites requires an additional Power Virtual Agents license, even though the client already has a Copilot license via Microsoft 365 (costing $20 per user per month)? We assumed this license would cover publication to SharePoint, but we’re now facing unexpected additional costs.

Any guidance on the licensing requirements for using the bot on SharePoint without extra charges would be greatly appreciated.

If embedding the bot on SharePoint is essential, you would need to opt for a PVA license after the free trial. PVA licenses are generally priced per bot or per environment, so you’ll need to evaluate the specific licensing structure to find the most cost-effective option for your client.

If embedding the bot in SharePoint is not a strict requirement, consider integrating the bot within Microsoft Teams. Microsoft 365 Copilot (PVA bots) can be deployed within Teams without extra licensing for internal use (since they already have Copilot for M365), which can provide a similar user experience without the added PVA license.

    Thanks.
