Unable to connect to Sharepoint URL

Hi All,

I have got access to my clients sharepoint site - https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com/sites/ITRnIReleaseMgmt/ET/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/

but when I try to use it in power apps, it throws error  - We didn't find a site with this address. Make sure you are entering the exact address of the site.

I tried connecting it using different combination of URLs - e.g. https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com,

https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com/sites/ITRnIReleaseMgmt,

https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com/sites/ITRnIReleaseMgmt/ET

but unable to connect to it.

Also, I tried with On Premise Data Gateway as well but still I get the same error.

Not sure if I am missing any basic setting while connecting to sharepoint.

If anyone has faced similar issue, kindly share the resolution or any pointers.

With Regards,

Gopal Talreja

    Hi @Anonymous ,

I will ask one basic question to eliminate something - has the client shared the site with you in Site Permissions?

@WarrenBelz  I can see my id in site admins under SharePoint->Site settings-> User and permissions

anything else I should check ?

    OK @Anonymous

Try going back to basics and put https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com/sites/ITRnIReleaseMgmt/ET URL (base address of site) and see if you can see the home page.

@WarrenBelz  When i try to browse the URL - https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com/sites/ITRnIReleaseMgmt/ET

it is going to page https://www.west.ssp.XXX.com/sites/ITRnIReleaseMgmt/ET/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/SitePages/Home.aspx

Any more points to check ?

Sorry, I have not worked with sharepoint much thats why may be missing some basic settings.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

So you can get to a page on the site - that takes care of site permissions unless there is something that has stopped inheriting them.

If you send the exact URL you are trying in a link to someone in the clients staff, can they see the page you are after?

@WarrenBelz yes other people are able to see the same site with same URL.

I am not sure what is the issue.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you want to connect with sharepoint?

Could you tell me whether do you want to connect with online sharepoint list or on-premise sharepoint list?

    1)connect with online sharepoint list

    Firstly, choose "cloud service".

Secondly, fill in the sharepoint site URL here:

    3176.PNG

You could find your sharepoint site URL in your site's home page.

    3177.PNG

The site URL should be like this:

    https://....sharepoint.com/sites/test315

    2)connect with on-premise sharepoint list

Based on your URL(...aspx), I think that should be a on-promises sharepoint list.

To connect with on-premise sharepoint list, you do not provide the site URL, you just need to provide account name and password.

Firstly, you need to use gateway to connect with on-promises data source and you could only use gateway in default environment.

Secondly, only premium license could use gateway.

After you install gateway and finish configured it, create your app in default environment, connect with sharepoint, choose "on-premises".

Choose gateway and fill in your sharepoint on-premises account name and password.

Please notice that powerapps only support  SharePoint versions 2013 and 2016.

Both of these two situations need you have permission on the list that you want to connect with.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the information @v-yutliu-msft  -

I am sure it works, but we share with external customers and contractors with a simple login.

    @v-yutliu-msft  I also think it is on-premise

I am able to access the sahrepoint site with my login from my machine.

I did install the gateway on my machine and register using the same credentials.

After that I tried connecting to sharepoint using gateway, as you mentioned.

I was able to see my gateway in the list and selected the same, still I am not able see any sharepoint site or URL. If i provide the same URL then again it gives me same error.

I am not sure if I am missing any steps here, or do I need any other permissions to access it from  Power Apps.

    With Regards,

    Gopal Talreja

    Hi @Anonymous ,

Let me describe more clearly about how to connect with on-promises sharepoint list:

1)install gateway, create app in default environment

    2)start gateway

3)choose gateway and then fill in account name and password in this place, then click "connect".

     4)fill in site URL here:

    3182.PNG

You could find the URL in this page.
    3183.PNG

Please make sure you enter the right URL.

    The permission that you need:
    1)the permission of the gateway

2)the read (at lest) permission of this site

Also, you need to have premium license (per app/per user license).

    Best regards,
