How to create a Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent using Copilot Studio that can access Power BI semantic model data and then share insights via Teams.

1. Prepare your data

Publish your semantic model in Power BI Service

Configure permissions (users + agent access)

2. Create a Fabric Data Agent (required)

Go to Microsoft Fabric

Create a Data Agent on top of your Power BI semantic model

Define instructions (what data it can access, how it should respond)

3. Connect Fabric agent to Copilot Studio

Open Microsoft Copilot Studio

Add agent → Connect to external agent → Microsoft Fabric

Select your Fabric Data Agent

4. Publish to Teams

Publish the agent

Add it to Microsoft Teams for end users

5. Share insights

Users ask questions in Teams (e.g., “sales last month”)

The agent returns insights from the semantic model
