Encrypting a Blob File Link (Azure Blob Storage)

Hello everyone,

I have a Power Apps application where users upload files to an Azure Blob Storage.

After that, users can view and download the files from the app using the Launch and Download functions.

The issue is:

  • When the user clicks the file, it opens in a new browser tab instead of downloading.
  • The direct URL of the blob is visible, and I would like to hide or encrypt this link so users don’t know where the files are actually stored.

How can I achieve this?

    For that scenario, you will need a middleware for that.

    Could be a azure function that sent the id of the record in blob record and retrieve from azure and return the file. 
     
    Another point could be a Power Automate flow that you can pass to the id of the file and get using azure blob storage connectors and return the content.
     
    In both scenario you will handle the original URL and will not provide for the user.
     
    Another point that i think that you must setup is the SAS token to access the file in blob storage, i would recommend to set a short period of time to make available, this ensure that even someone get the url will not download after the time set expired.
