Populate text field fails in unattended mode and works only for the first time

Hi,

I have to pass firstname to the given textbox in a webpage but the selector works only for the first time and once the page reloads, the selector fails. Please help me here to fix the selector. the selector currently used is :
div[Id="dvBackgroundSearch"] > div > div > div > div > input[Id="txtFirstName"]

Hi,

May be try with below css selector in UI Element

I hope this id parameter under input tag does not change and may be stable also

Tried with this as well but as page refreshes I get the error that selector not found.

On what action does the flow fail to? Is it "Wait for web page content" or "populate text field" -action? If its "populate text field" are you sure the web page is fully loaded after refresh?

Also does the flow only fail on unattended run and not attended runs? If so I would check the screenshot from the run history and see if there is something weird about it. By default resolution is usually much smaller in unattended runs.

If the flow can't find the selector on the second refresh even when you run the flow from PADs edit window then I would test the selector and see at what element/attribute the selector fails.

The flow fails on populate text on web page action, I have given a delay of 5 sec before it starts with this activity but still it just doesn't work. Also the focus from browser page suddenly shifts to desktop screen.

Hi,

if the selector is not found after refresh- i would recommend to check the way @eetuRobo has suggested to check the selector. This way you can find and can be able to rectify selector issue.

The flow fails on populate text on web page action, I have given a delay of 5 sec before it starts with this activity but still it just doesn't work. Also the focus from browser page suddenly shifts to desktop screen.

Its not wise to use hard coded waits when you could use "Wait for web page content" instead. That way you make sure that the flow does not try to continue if the website/machine/internet connection is slow and takes 6seconds instead of 5 to load the page.
