I am looking for a tool that I can build web/mobile prototypes in that allows access to Data on the backend to create live interactive prototypes. I am not looking to create the actual app, but a subset for demo and show purposes. Can PowerApps be used for this? Can I import wireframes or HTML from a web/mobile prototype tyool and use power Apps to create the logic and manipulate the data? Really need something to allow me to craete the front end and have access to a DB (Access is fine or cloud basded ok).

PowerApps is not your typical development platform - in that it is a no-code solution.

It does not deal with HTML in the way that you are suggesting, but rather with controls, connections, and actions.

However, it is VERY easy to create prototypes that are connected to data and to showcase them for further design work. Nice part is that they all "play" on the PowerApps player - which is available on all devices.

You might want to take a look at some of the Templates that are part of PowerApps as they are good starting points and will give a general idea on how things are connected together.

Hi Nick,

In addition to what @RandyHayes says, there's no option to import wireframes from a tool. Also, it's not easy to connect to an Access database, but there are plenty of cloud data sources that you can use - SQL Azure is the most prominent. It's really simple to connect to data that's in an Excel spreadsheet.

Eickhel did a fantastic job of building a pixel by pixel implementation of Twitter in PowerApps, and provides a great example of what you can accomplish.

Thanks for the info.....Was hoping that it copuld be used as a more rapid prototyper, but i am realizing that demo/prototype to integrating into a production environment may not be possible with the current tool sets.

I'll have a look at these to see if they are applicable....
