Enabling smart replies/follow ups in Copilot Studio

Hi,

Has anyone tried enabling smart replies/follow ups in Copilot Studio for agent that answers user's question? What I wanted to achieve is after the agent provide an answer to user's question, it can smartly guess what user might be interested in and provide options for user to select such as if user ask 'Where can I find a taxi stand?', the agent provide a reply based on a knowledge source then follow-up with asking user 'Would you like to find out about the taxi booking fare/price?'

I am aware Giorgio Ughini has written something along this lines: (24) Enable Smart Replies in Copilot Studio using the new Instruction Editor | LinkedIn but for my case it is not to use any Copilot skills or tools. I have seen other tools like StackAI that could enable this with a tick box in bot settings but it does not seem possible in Copilot Studio.

Out of interest, why don't you want to use the instruction editor like in the LinkedIn article and prefer a tick box?

To be clear, you can just tell it to ask follow-up questions. You don't have to specify what these questions should be.

    Test with that instruction

    Happy to help out 😁

I have tried to include under my instructions to ask follow-up questions in the response format below:

    ## Response Format
    If no format is specified:
    - Use \*\*bullet points\*\* for procedural or list-based queries.
    - Use \*\*concise paragraphs\*\* for conceptual or explanatory queries.

    Always include:
    1. Source citations at the end
    2. Ask follow-up questions
    3. A standard reference line

However, the responses seem to always not do 2. in my agent, even with the GenAI orchestration enabled.
Moreover, would prefer not to have genAI orchestration enabled as I would not like it to use general knowledge but only the sources I have given it.
