Run Office Script in Excel from PAD

Hi,

How can I run a piece of Office Script in Excel, from PA Desktop? The closest action I can see is 'Run Excel Macro'.

Is calling to power automate Cloud an option? You can run office scripts from Cloud.
So one option that i can see is.
- Run cloud flow > partial desktop flow > cloud flow (here you run office script) > desktop flow (the rest of your flow).

My flow actually started life in the cloud, and then I found out our Jira was an on-prem instance and hidden behind the firewall.
I didn't know you could do that, I'll run some experiments and report back.

Hi Bruce,

Currently no direct way of running OfficeScripts in the Desktop flows.

Either run it via the Cloud flows

or

Write a macro similar to the OfficeScript and call it from Run Excel Macro in the Desktop flows.

But be noted that if you have the OfficeScripts for an Excel online version then Excel web cannot be interacted directly from the Desktop Flows.

This is very disappointing for those of us who find Desktop much more intuitive and don't need the cloud offerings. But thank you for redirecting my search for a solution!

One option is to assign a button to the office script, open Excel instance in PAD as "visible" and use PAD UI automation to click the script button.
Then, you can wait until the Run Status windows says: "succeeded."
It worked for me.
