I had this problem once before, but it was more consistent and repeatable. I currently have one app that is randomly have gateway timeout trying to pull information from Azure SQL. It is not consistent between users, devices, or internet connections. It seems to come and go randomly. I attached a live monitor session to a user and was able to capture it.
Once the timeout happened then the app works fine. That isn't always the case, sometimes it never seems to time out.
