Assigning "Created By" to Planner Task based on Microsoft Teams sender

Hello -

We have a Power Automate flow that takes any emails/messages posted to a Microsoft Teams channel and creates a task based off of the information. We have another Power Automate Flow that sends a "Task completed" notification once that task has been completed.

We are running into an issue where the "Created By" in the original Flow is assigned to the Flow owner. Is there a way to update/assign the "Created By" for the task to the original sender of the message? Our second flow is sending completed notifications to the "Created By" user, which due to the first flow, is always going to be the Flow owner.

Thank you!

    Hi @Anonymous,

You could use the Get user action of Azure AD connector to get the create user Email by using the user id, for example:

    Hi @v-litu-msft -

The issue mentioned in my original post is that the flow creating the task is defaulting the "Created By" user to the Flow owner (and not the person who created the message in the Microsoft Teams environment), and because of that, it is affecting flows downstream (like this one).

The "Get User" action in your solution would pull the flow owner because they were assigned the "Created By" in the previous flow. Our root issue is that the "Created By" for the task is not who is activating the trigger (Send a Microsoft Teams message) and we're hoping to get some ideas around this.

    Thank you!
