Simple chat agent without extra knowledge

If I don't link any knowledge to an agent in Copilot Studio and then make this agent available in MS Teams and allow web searches, is it like a 1:1 ChatAgent based on ChatGPT 5 (if you choose that model)? Or what is the difference?

    When you create an agent, Copilot Studio automatically includes the Conversational Boosting system topic, which has a generative answers node.
    This means the agent is not a blank LLM — it already has an orchestration layer that decides how to generate responses, even before you add knowledge.
    Copilot Studio uses its own managed versions of models, not raw OpenAI API endpoints and the Model behavior is governed by Microsoft:
    • Integrated guardrails
    • Data access policies
    • AI orchestration
    • Tool routing
    • Knowledge grounding rules
