Modern Table control + SharePoint list: row ID is visible but Selected.ID is blank

I’m using a modern Table control in a canvas app with a SharePoint list. The rows display correctly and the ID is visible, but Table1.Selected.ID is inconsistent it works for some rows and is blank for others.

the row is visible in the table
the ID is visible in the table
it works for some rows
it does not work for others

Is there a workaround for this? I tried using a data table but it doesn't have an OnSelect. Would I encounter the same issues with a Gallery?

Hi Good Day

Why Table1.Selected.ID is inconsistent

The Table control currently has a few behavioral issues:

• Selected is not reliably updated on every click

• Clicking different parts of a row (text vs empty cell vs padding area) can behave differently

• Sorting/virtualization can cause the “selected record” context to lag or not update

• In some cases, the row is rendered correctly but the internal selection state is not set → so Selected becomes blank

So even though:

• the row is visible

• the ID is visible

The control may not consistently update Selected.

workaround

The recommended workaround is to avoid relying on Table.Selected for interaction logic and use Use a Gallery instead

A Gallery control is the standard solution for interactive rows in canvas apps.

Why it works better:

• ThisItem is always reliable

• OnSelect exists at row level

Modern table control is still in preview.

Even I encountered issues using that, when table size is more and filtering is applied, it will not pick selected record. It was always blank when we scroll the table.

Option to overcome it was to remove filtering, but the requirement still requires filtering then you will have to go with gallery instead of table.
