General PAD Flow Advice | Azure VM Security

Howdy!

I've been a PA cloud enthusiast for the last couple of years and I'm just diving into PAD. I've seen the power and I'm diving right in.

I plan to utilize an Azure VM and PAD. I want to schedule multiple PAD flows for a specific day and time to do the following:

  1. Launch Edge
  2. Log into a credential manager
  3. Grab the credentials from a specific record, let's say a clients Shopify account
  4. Launch another Edge instance
  5. Log into Shopify
  6. Export financial information

Couple of questions:

  • How can I schedule PAD flows using a VM?
  • I've been using variables to store usernames and passwords
    • Is there anything more secure?
  • I've noticed PAD doesn't have solutions
    • How can I organize these flows?
  • I plan on having 60 plus flows run sequentially throughout a day on the same VM
    • is this ambitious? Should I break up the workload?
  • VM size
    • I will strictly be interacting with the Edge browser. What size Azure VM would you suggest?

Any suggestions would be marvelous!

Thanks.

How can I schedule PAD flows using a VM?:

You can utilize Power Automate cloud flows for triggering or scheduling purposes. Alternatively, you can employ Task Scheduler, although both options require a premium account.

I've been using variables to store usernames and passwords:

Consider using Azure Vault for storing usernames and passwords. You can integrate them as environment variables and utilize these credentials while invoking VM from a cloud flow.

I've noticed PAD doesn't have solutions:

You can leverage Power Platform solutions as you would for other cloud flows or apps; the same principle applies here.

I plan on having 60 plus flows run sequentially throughout a day on the same VM:

This shouldn't pose any issues unless all flows have very short durations. However, if you wish to distribute the workload, you may explore concepts such as Machine Groups and Work Queues in PAD.

    VM size:

Please refer to the hardware specifications suggested by Microsoft below.

    Hope this helps!!
