Multiple choice of options value

Hi,

I want to create a chat bot using Power Virtual Agent.

I want to ask if there is any way to populate multiple choice of options question value based on data from sharepoint list or database? Because from the documentation and from my exploration, the only way i found is to add manually in the authoring canvas menu

Regards,

Alvin Susanto

@renatoromao this is not what he is asking for. The choices needs to be shown as choices to pick in the conversation - so that the users i.e. gets information in the next step based on his/her choice.  I see this is an old message, anyone else who has solved this since this was posted?

    Hi @jsparrow ,

You can use the sample below to show the options using Power Automate:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/approvals-markdown-support#ordered-or-numbered-lists

    Example:

    Markdown
    0. First item.
    0. Second item.
    0. Third item.

    Result:

    1. First item.
    2. Second item.
    3. Third item.

    Hi renatoromao,

Can you share how did you set up the variable on pva? The response is correct however, it back in bot, it only displays the first record though looking at the variable-it does contains the remaining record.

Re: Multiple choice of options value

This is such a basic requirement I was quite shocked it's not possible.

We would like to search in an outlook calendar, find the next three available appointments and display the dates/times as multiple choice options:

    [Thursday 4:00PM]  [Friday 3:00PM] [Saturday 9:00AM]

Instead we are stuck with requiring a list like this and then having to work out that 2 means the Friday appointment

    Choose 1, 2 or 3:

    1. Thursday 4:00PM
    2. Friday 3:00PM
    3. Saturday 9:00AM

    Very very basic requirement.

Re: Multiple choice of options value

I'm surprised that there aren't more articles on this topic. It's quite important to be able to have results returned to the PVA from a call to a source system and presenting these to the user as options that can be selected.

A simple scenario would be a Knowledge Base PVA. The user asks a question and the PVA (via Power Automate) queries a Knowledge Base and returns a summary of, for example, the top three matched knowledge articles. The user can then select which one they want to view which then shows more detail about that article.

Another scenario is where the user wants to know about your products. Instead of listing the products in the PVA, as per the lesson example when PVA is installed, you'd rather want to query your product catalog and show the user the products directly from the product catalog search.

Surely this is a basic requirement and not one that necessitates having to built a Bot framework bot to address this requirement.

    Hi @renatoromao ,

so, it seems there is no way to display the result as "Multiple choice of string" value...

    Hi @alvinsusanto ,

You can use the Markdown to format your items.

    Follow attached the sample.

Re: Multiple choice of options value

    Hi @renatoromao ,

Can we use the response from Power Automate as a choice? Because in the article, it stated that the input and output only can be either number or string or boolean.

For example, i want to create a bot for e-commerce. When user ask for the list category available, i want to use Power Automate to somehow query existing category in DB or Sharepoint, and show the list of category (as a clickable choice) based on the result. Can we do something like this at the moment?

    Hi @alvinsusanto ,

You can use the Power Automate to get the data from SharePoint or any databases.

So, the output in the workflow, you can use: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-virtual-agents/advanced-flow#input-and-output-parameters
