Trying to insert a text label inside an empty gallery

Hi all, new to Power Apps and having problems. I am trying to follow this tutorial to create a time picker in Power Apps. I have gotten as far as making the gallery, and am trying to add a text label inside the gallery to populate the hours field. The screenshot below is how I want it to look:

Notice how the text label is underneath the gallery in the sidebar and thus inside of it. I cannot figure out how to get the text label to be inside the gallery - when I try to create a new text label, it just creates it outside the gallery. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @elbent, if you select the TimePicker_Hours label that you've already created, then when you insert a control it should appear inside the gallery.

If you did it when your component is highlighted as in your screenshot, the new text label will appear inside the component but not inside the gallery.

The screenshot is not mine, it's from the tutorial. Sorry if that was unclear. I am trying to get mine to look like the screenshot. When I select the gallery and insert text label, it does not show up inside the gallery, but in the component.

Ah I see ok. Hopefully what I said makes sense though? If not can you post a screenshot of your version so I can see what's going on?

No, selecting the gallery and adding a text input does not work. Here is what mine looks like:

Ah yeah that's one of Power Apps many quirks.

You can't insert anything into an empty gallery. Create a gallery with a template layout, any of them, and just delete the contents you don't need.

There is 2 things as part of the Gallery, first is the overall window. but then inside its compartmentalized even though that doesnt reflect on the tree. so click into the top section see images.

here is the overall window. when i click Insert Label or Text input etc, it doesnt add to the gallery.

but if you click the top portion it will show a sub window within the gallery. this is what you want. then when you click insert it associates the label or field to that

there will be only 1 (all the way at the top of the gallery frame). the galery then repeats that section for each record, but you are not able to actually select the 2nd or 3rd etc. just the top.

give that a go, it should fix you up.
