Form not showing any fields for person type column in SharePoint

Hello Community,

I created a form that is using a SharePoint datasource. This column type is of Person type.

The problem is that sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesnt work I usually remove the field from the form and re-add the column type which usually works. Now after some time it will then not work again and not show anything.

See screenshot below. It looks like it has values but it doesn't show anything.

the display field property is as follow:

["DisplayName","Email","Picture"

when I check the Data Source property of the combo box and press the down arrow, there are data, it is showing people

I created a seperate combobox that used to work and shows images. I just hid the default combobox that a datacard in the form is creating but to be clear, this default combobox also doesn't work.

I do not know what's causing the issue or what needs to be done but I do not want to keep repeating the same thing over and over again when suddenly it stops working again.

If you've encountered the same issue , I will appreciate any form of help. Thanks!

    Items Property of the ComboBox
    • Choices([@DataSource].'Person or Group ColumnName')
    DisplayFields Property of the ComboBox
    • ["DisplayName","Email"]
    SearchFields Property of the ComboBox
    • ["DisplayName"]

    Data Card

DataField - 'Person or Group ColumnName'
DisplayName - DataSourceInfo([@DataSource],DataSourceInfo.DisplayName,'Person or Group ColumnName')

This is my configuration for the Person or Group with the ComboBox I have never experienced the issues like which you are reporting.

    Hello @KevinGador

Above suggestion correct only but...  Yes, sometimes this behavior occurs when a new ComboBox control is added to a form connected to a SharePoint Person column. Even if the DisplayFields property is set correctly (e.g., ["DisplayName","Email","Picture"]), the ComboBox may still appear empty.

In that case, try resetting the DisplayFields property. Remove the values first, apply the change, and then set them again. Doing this once or twice usually refreshes the control and the values start displaying correctly.

After resetting the fields, check the ComboBox again. In many cases it starts working as expected.

@Kalathiya - Hi! It did work, it showed data when I did this. However, the image does not appear any longer and does this happen often even in production? This field is a required field and if it doesnt show any value from time to time it will be a big problem with the application. My DisplayFields has the "Picture" value but it doesn't show now.

@MS.Ragavendar - Hi! Looks like this is from the default combobox that is created along with the data card when you create a form where it doesn't include an image of the user. I created a new combo box that will include the image of the user which is why you will notice my display fields has a "Picture" value.

    Appreciate all your response.

First in the backend ensure the Show Profile Photos as Yes.

While typing the combo box will filter the records as shown below

However if you want to display image also means then add the image control

    Office365Users.UserPhotoV2('DataCardValue22_2'.Selected.Email)

This is the only approach you can render the both u cannot render the image inside the combo box.

    Hello @KevinGador,

Like you did before, please reselect the layout once or twice, and the image will show up as well. Sometimes the control does not refresh with the data, which can cause this issue. By doing this, the image will reflect properly if it already exists in the user’s profile.

    Hello @KevinGador

    Thanks for updating me.

Based on my experience, this issue usually happens only when you add a new ComboBox or make changes to the data source. Once a ComboBox is set up and working, it rarely breaks, so you shouldn’t need to redo it every time.
