Find a solution GUID

Hi,

I am trying to make an app that lists all the apps we have in each of our 4 environments.

I wanted to try and include a button that when clicked would take the dev to the solution overview page for that app.

I have managed to get the environment GUIDs already so can complete the url up until the solution GUID.

I found a table called Solutions in Dataverse which lists out all the Solution GUIDs but I cannot see how/where the apps that are within these Solutions are mapped. I was hoping that when I click on the button in the app, I could call a table passing it the parameters of the app I have selected and it would return the Solution GUID for that app completing the url I need.

Does that make sense?

Thanks 😁

    Greetings @CU23070855-1

I do understand why you would want to do this, and it does make kind of sense. However, there is already something created that, among other things, it does exactly what you're building... It's called the Center of Excellence, and it is a great way to manage your Power Platform Tenant. Now, this is a somewhat hard thing to master, but it does bring a lot to the table, including what you're building!

Here's an image I took from the internet on how it looks the Power Platform Admin View, which is part of the Center of Excellence!

    Hello @AmínAA,

Great suggestion, thank you. I was hoping to not use the CoE as this app will mostly be used by our citizen dev/ makers community and I didn't really want to let them loose with CoE.

There must be a connector that can tell you which solution an app belongs to, I just cannot find it 🙈

    Thanks,
    James

    Hi there @CU23070855-1!

I see, yeah, not a good idea to let all of your citiven devs/makers access the CoE... Hmm, well, there must be some table that actually records what apps exist... I have found in my private environment a table called Application, which has a Name and a Solution column. I'm not sure if that one might hold what you are looking for. I'm actually taking a look at other ways to achieve this!

Edit: I have found that you might be able to use the list of commands of the CLI for Microsoft 365 module... here you will find a list of all the commands you can use, and while I did not find specifically what you were asking, there seems to be quite a lot of data you can get using this, so it may be worth to check it out! You would have to install and configure the Power Platform CLI, export the relevant solutions, and automate the querying using the CLI commands. It is quite a headache to do it, but once you set it up, it can prove pretty useful!

Edit2: Here you will find how to Install and Use the CLI!
