Is there a way to prevent Users from finding the SharePoint list on the site?

Hi,

My app is ready and my data source is SharePoint. If somehow the users land on the Sharepoint site, can I prevent then from finding the sharepoint list in the site contents?

Please note I want to allow them to add new entries to the list (via my app) but I don't want them to see the underlying database.

Regards,

Aakash

Security wise No since you want users to create items so they would need access to the list.

From a UI perspective, open site in SharePoint designer and set the list as hidden.

You could also use PowerShell  - https://sharepains.com/2019/07/12/create-a-hidden-list-in-sharepoint-online/

Bear in mind that search would fetch the list item results, so if you need to hide the items from search as well, then turn it off in the list settings.

    Hi @RezaDorrani ,

    Point 1 noted.

Point 2: FYI I am a citizen developer.

    1. What is sharepoint designer?
    2. My IT is controlled by my company. Do I need to seek their help or can I do it myself?
    3. By hidden, do you mean hiding it in Quick Navigation bar on the left? If not, even after hiding will users still be able to access it from site contents?

    Regards,

    1- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35491

2- As long as you have edit access on the SharePoint site, you can make the updates

3- When list is hidden, it will not show up under site contents. You would need to remove the list from the navigation.
