I have added a plugin package to a solution and am trying to deploy in a managed solution into our test environment.
The solution install tool is failing to install the solution now saying that the import of the plugin has an invalid SourceType property. I opened a ticket with MSFT and was told that "currently plugin packages cannot be deployed to other environments in a solution". I thought that was the whole idea of adding the plugin package to a solution when you create the project in Visual Studio?
Have the plugin packages issues been resolved yet? I am trying to deploy a managed export from Dev to test and keep getting the "Model-Driven App is missing required components uniquename : XXXXXXXXXX. Please include the App with required components." message, but all the required components are added and the error is occurring in
Hi Andrew, on the roadmap GA for this feature is December 2022. Previously it was scheduled for GA in September. I hope you have the fixes in place and are in the process of rolling them out? Having this feature working properly will be a game changer for plugin development.
You are correct that solution management with plugin packages has a few known issues we are working on fixing
Yeah - it seems that Plugin Packages are more 'alpha version' than public preview.
Plugin packages are still in preview which means they may not be available in all scale groups.
My immediate first thought was have you enabled the 2022 release wave on the environment you are moving to and is it the same version. But then I found the documentation Dependent Assembly plug-ins (preview) (Microsoft Dataverse) - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn and there does seem to be a complete lack of mention regarding solution management so I think this is still an early preview with some functionality missing.
