Today, Copilot Studio allows admins to set a monthly usage limit for each agent and automatically turn the agent off when that limit is reached, but this can only be done manually through the Power Platform Admin Center. There is no REST API or programmatic way to set these limits or stop an agent automatically using automation. For large organizations, this makes governance difficult because teams cannot use scripts, workflows, or cost alerts to control agent usage. Everything has to be monitored and updated by hand, which does not scale and increases the risk of unexpected usage or billing, especially for public‑facing or pay‑as‑you‑go agents. Providing an API to set monthly limits and turn agents on or off would allow governance teams to automate cost control, react quickly to usage spikes, and manage Copilot agents safely and consistently across environments.
