help needed - Copilot studio vs M365

I 'd like to learn more about the dev environment between studio and M365. Studio has a lot more tools and when I created an agent in M365, it doesnt "cross over" to my studio page. I assume it operates in different environment and would like to talk to someone.

    Hi

Yes, what you are seeing is expected, even though it is maybe not very intuitive.

Agents created in Microsoft 365 Copilot (Copilot Studio lite) do not automatically appear in the full Copilot Studio environment. They operate in a separate context, and that environment is not exposed in the Copilot Studio environment picker.

If you want to continue working on that agent in full Copilot Studio, you need to explicitly use “Copy to Copilot Studio.”

    A few important points:

    • There is no automatic sync between the two experiences
    • The copied agent becomes a separate version in Copilot Studio
    • Not everything transfers 1:1 when copying

So while the two experiences are related, they are not seamlessly integrated today.

If you are planning more advanced scenarios (connectors, orchestration, governance), I recommand and because it is usually better to start directly in full Copilot Studio to avoid rework later.

    Hope it helps!

That's expected behavior. Agents built in M365 Copilot run in what Microsoft calls "Copilot Studio lite" and they live in a separate context that doesn't show up in the full Copilot Studio environment picker.

To bring it over you need to use the "Copy to Copilot Studio" option from within the M365 Copilot experience. Keep in mind it creates a separate copy, there's no ongoing sync between the two, and not everything transfers across perfectly.

If you're planning to build anything beyond basic Q&A (custom connectors, flows, orchestration, governance), it's worth starting directly in full Copilot Studio from the beginning to avoid doing the work twice.

Hope that clears it up. If it does, feel free to mark it as answered so others with the same question can find it quickly.

    Best regards,
